Where to begin? I'm Andrew no-middle-name Cuccaro [coo-CAR-oh]. I'm a double Cancer, a middle-child, a Slytherin, and a Syracuse, NY- native. I fell in love with musical theatre at a very young age, probably because my mom started my formal education early by playing the Mary Martin Peter Pan VHS on a loop, and belting "People" around the house (honestly, a killer rendition if you ask me). When I was 9, I was cast in my first musical, Anything Goes! I'm not really sure why that show needed a children's ensemble, but I got to sing and dance on a big boat with showgirls and conmen (and wear mascara), so I was SOLD. As I got older, I knew that theatre was meant to be more than a hobby for me, and I auditioned for college programs.
I pursued my Bachelor's in Musical Theatre at SUNY Cortland, and was a Dean's and President's list student, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I had opportunities to appear in mainstage productions (favorites include Hair, Crazy For You,and The Glass Menagerie), vocal recitals, and dance concerts throughout my four years. I also taught Boys' Intro Dance and Advanced Tap classes at a local studio, and choreographed local high school musicals. In addition to performing, I'm a frequent movie-goer and classic film fanatic. I collect vinyl, love completing the New York Times' daily crossword, and really enjoy studying musical theatre history (during the pandemic I memorized an embarrassing amount Tony Awards trivia...) I'm a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and try to support Queer foundations, businesses, and artists as often as possible.
My goal as an actor is to use performing arts as a vehicle to educate, inspire, and create progressive, profound dialogue between audiences, and within our industry. I love art that makes me think, and I hope my work can do that for others.
So I guess that's me, summed up! Check out my Instagram, my YouTube, or send me a message if you want to know more :)
